Fun with Granddad

Conner spent a few days at MeMaw and Granddads house. He kept them busy with projects.
Him and Granddad worked out in the barn and came up with this wort hog plane. He is so proud of this plane he asked me if I would put this picture on Facebook so everyone can see it.
Thanks mom and dad for making memories with him that he will remember forever.

4-H Fair

This week was the 4-H fair. Steve and Conner made it out there several nights. Conner displayed his Allis Chalmers at the fair all week and Friday night, they entered the antique tractor parade.

All Dressed Up!

Toaster

The other day, I went out to the barn and found Conner's 12V John Deere Gator in many, many pieces. Including wires, screws, pedals, seats, and gear shift all over the barn. I was pretty mad cause I tried to put it back together and wired it wrong so we burned up one of the $75 batteries. So, I went out the next day and bought a goodwill toaster and told the kid to take it apart. He did, he put it back together, and it worked. We made toast. So, he did it all over again!

Camping

This weekend, we camped at Lincoln with the Richeys. It stormed Saturday night and the power went out around 8 pm and never came back on before we left Sunday. The temperature was about 94 degrees so we were forced to camp the real way. No electricity or air conditioning. It was fun anyways.

Thoughts of Losing Grandmother

Conner experienced his first loss this week when his Great Grandmother Payne died.
He went to his first funeral and funeral home showing (that he can remember). He showed us how mature he is by his actions. He had tons of questions about the whole thing and asked them all in private. He was very well behaved at the funeral home, funeral, and cemetery. Although, this can be very overwhelming for everyone, he handled it all well. He is going to miss his grandmother so much.

Things he's said or asked.........

When we went to tell him that she had passed......
Me- "Conner, we need to tell you something sad."
Conner- "I already know, I already know what you are going to tell me, Grandmother went to Heaven."
Me- "How did you know that?"
Conner- "I heard you talking to her and she said she was going to go to heaven."
We are not sure if he had a dream or if she paid him a visit.

When I was explaining what would happen over the next few days,
Me- "And then we will burry her casket next to her husband under his stone."
Conner- "Will they be able to hold Hands?"

At the funeral home in the bathroom.......
Conner-"I'm so sad, me and granddad are not going to have anywhere to eat breakfast after church now that grandmother is gone."
Steve- "oh buddy, you guys can find another breakfast spot to go to."
Conner- "No, No one else knows how to make all that yummy food and bacon too.. She always made bacon."

Conner- "will grandmother make breakfast for all the people in heaven?"

Conner- "I hope I dream about her every night so I don't forget about her."

Conner- " Mommy told me they put her casket in that concrete hole I saw at the cemetery."
Steve- "Yes."
Conner- "Well, why would you guys do that? You are making it hard for the angels to take her to heaven. They will have to lift open that box,"

Grandmother

My sweet grandmother, and Conner's Great Grandmother passed away July 15, 2014.
She will be greatly missed. She was one of a kind and loved by everyone who met her.
Conner was especially close to her. Her death is his first real heartache. He's never had to experience loosing someone he was close too. He said he will miss her and he hopes he dreams about her every night so he will never forget her.

Back Home

On Wednesday, we got home at 4:30. It took us exactly 8 hours with one lunch break and 2 potty stops.  While I unpacked, Steve mowed, and Conner made us dinner all by himself. It was wonderful because I didn't have to do anything but the clean up! Love that kid. He is such a thoughtful kid willing to help out always.
We had a great time on vacation and now we are back to reality.
Thanks Aunt Elaine, Mike, and Scott for making our trip memorable.

Last Day of vacation

On our last day of vacation, we went to the beach to dig, met Mike at the newly opened beach restaurant, The deck, walked out to the Lighthouse, went to Craigs Cruisers to ride go karts, kiddie carts, and play games. Then, we went back to Aunt Elaine's, and she made a huge meal for us, Scott and Donna, and Mike. We headed to bed early so we could get up and drive home Wednesday.

Sleeping Bear Dunes

Monday morning, we got up and ate breakfast at the Great wolf Lodge. We checked out and headed to Sleeping Bear Dunes. Conner was a baby the last time he came to the Dunes, so this was really his first time to experience it. The weather was beautiful. He loved climbing and digging in the sand.
We stopped for Pizza in Manistee and headed back to Muskegon. Aunt Elaine made us another yummy supper.
