Today, Conner went to Daycare for the first time. It was a trial seperation for me and Conner, since I go back to work on Monday. My maternity leave has came to an end. I have had 12 wonderful weeks getting to know Conner and I loved every minute of it. Now, I must go back to work and Conner will take on a new adventure in his life. He will be attending The Deaconess Children's Enrichment Center. That is a big name for - Deaconess Daycare. It is on the Main Campus at Deaconess and so is the Evansville Surgery Center, where I work. We will only be seperated by a few parking lots, which is very nice to know. If I need to check on him, or want to go say HI, I can walk over there. I work 4 days a week, so Conner will get up with me on those days, and I will drop him off on my way. The Daycare is very well known for their excellence in education from 6 weeks of age through pre-school. The have a curriculum for their children even at 6 weeks of age. Pre-school is also offered at the center so, Conner will stay there until he starts kindergarten.
Today was very hard for me. I shed many, many tears and asked Steve to go with me when dropping off Conner. This was my best move. When we got to daycare, I was sitting in the back seat with Conner, CRYING. I told Steve that "I don't think I can do this." Steve got Conner out of his seat and I had to follow. I was prepared to sit in the car as long as it took. If Steve didn't go, I might not have made it into the building. I probably would have left. I cried when I left him, I cried all the way home, at home, in Wal-mart, again at home, and even on my way to pick him up. He was only scheduled 7am-noon. They were the longest 5 hours of my life. I am very glad we did a trial run before the real day, Monday.
I am sure this will get easier. It has too.
