Camping at Patoka

This weekend, we went camping at Patoka Lake State Reservoir. It is the nicest state park we have been to. It was very pretty and clean and the weather was unbeatable. Conner had fun as usual. He loves the outdoors. We set him outside in his swing or exersaucer and he can entertain himself. Aunt Janie and Aunt Joannie were also there, so he was not lacking anyone to love on him. We started him on Rice Cereal for the first time Friday night and he slept through the night. That was a first. He did it again on Saturday night. We went on several walks, played on the playground, went for a ride around the park, and went to The Newly restored West Baden Hotel. It was a great and relaxing weekend for the three of us.

First Wedding

Conner went to his first wedding and reception August 15th. Our neighbor Mark married his longtime girlfriend, Liz, Saturday. We were very happy to be invited to celebrate with them. It was Conner's first wedding. He spent most of the ceremony in the back of Church with his daddy because he didn't want to be quiet. The ceremony was beautiful. The reception was a lot of fun. We just threw a blanket on the floor and let Conner stretch and play like he does at home. He seemed to enjoy himself and he loved the loud music. He was full of smiles. There were so many people at the reception for him to watch. He stayed busy.

Visiting with Family

On Sunday, we went to Mom and Dad's house for dinner. My dad has been working out of town a lot lately and has had little time to visit with his grand babies. He called Saturday night and bribed Steve and I with Steak and Chicken if we would bring Conner up for a visit Sunday. We love Steak so off we went. We got to visit with everyone and play with Sophie.

Sophie found the best seat in the house.

Mom and Dad have a little tike's beauty shop. Sophie is always the beautician and everyone stops by to get their hair done when she is in her shop.

Steve was spinning her around in her beauty shop chair. He went a little overboard. When she stood up and tried to walk, she bit the ground. A little dizzy beautician. Priceless. Doesn't everyone take a beer to the beauty shop?????

Conner is almost too much for Sophie to handle.

3 Months Old

Happy 3 Month Birthday Conner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Conner has changed so much in the last 3 months. He continues to grow like a weed, but his social skills have become so much fun. He loves people interaction. If anyone looks at him, he flashes a huge smile. He loves to be talked to. He started Daycare and watches everything that goes on in that room all day long. Ms. Linda and Ms. Dorothy say he is Nosey. He has to be up in all the other kids business. The others are crawling or starting to walk and he is jealous. They say he watches them like a hawk and follows them around the room with his eyes. They act like we are lying about his age. The first day we picked him up, they were so amazed at how alert he is. The fact that he can hold his head up so well and follow the other kids with his eyes. Also, they are amazed at his size. He is the youngest in the room, but one of the biggest. The 10 month old boy who is starting to walk, Colton, is smaller than Conner. Every day last week when we picked him up, they would go on and on about how alert he is. I told Steve that they must think we are lying about him only being 3 months old.

What Conner is up to at 3 months old!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. He drools like crazy.
  2. He kicks and moves his arms every time you lay him down. They are constantly moving.
  3. He is starting to get some hair. It looks like it is going to be dark brown.
  4. He has learnt to pull his legs up. This makes diaper changing challenging.
  5. He still hates diaper changes and clothes changing.
  6. He talks up a storm. If you talk to him, he will talk right back like he is telling you stories.
  7. He smiles a lot, laughs, and sometimes giggles.
  8. He loves the TV. No, we don't let him watch TV a lot. I know TV is bad for babies. But, if he catches the TV with his eye, you won't break his concentration.
  9. He is still the cutest little thing I have ever seen.

My mom says that Conner is made up of the 3 men in his life. He always has his arms, legs, and mouth going a mile a minute. Mom said, he gets the arms from my dad who can not tell a story without using his hands. He gets the leg movements from Grandpa Stanton who has Restless Legs. And he gets the mouth from Steve who loves to talk. He has a little bit of all of them in him.

First Trip to the Zoo

Sunday, was my last day of Maternity leave so I took my two boys to the Mesker Park Zoo. We basically went just to see Amazonia. Steve and I enjoyed it and Conner could really care less. He will like it more one day. It was my attempt to spend the day with the family before I had to go back to work and we all go our separate ways. The best part of the day was dinner. Steve made BBQ ribs on the grill. I made fresh green beans and fresh squash from my father-in-laws garden. The neighbors brought us part of a watermelon. It doesn't get more summer than that. Dinner was awesome. Fresh food is my favorite part of Summer. We were just shy the tomatoes. All in all, it was a great day.
