A Day of Fun

Last Sunday, Conner and I went to the Henderson Waterfront to see what we could get into. They have great playgrounds, water sprinklers, and a train to climb on. Although, Conner's favorite part was the real train that goes over a train bridge right over the river and over the top of the playground. The conductor was hanging his arm out the window of the train, looked right at Conner, waved and blew the horn.  He was so excited!  He just looked shocked then laughed and clapped!

Asthma

For several months, Conner has been having coughing fits. I have taken him to the doctor countless times over the last 3 months for him to keep telling me that it is bad allergies and to give him Zyrtec. The coughing fits became increasingly worse. Usually having 2-3 episodes a day that would last 30 minutes to an hour each time and end with throwing up. Even when we went to Florida where there is lower humidity and 1/4 of the trees we have in Indiana, the episodes were frequent.

On June 23rd, we had the worst episode yet. So, first thing Friday morning, I called the doctor to get him in.  I had watched this go on long enough and it wasn't allergies.  I had my spiel all ready to go "You may have a medical degree, but I have a mommy degree and this is not normal. I know my child better than you do."  Anyways, I didn't have to say any of that. After a thorough exam and reviewing his history of countless visits for the same cough. He diagnosed him with a type of Asthma. It is called Cough Variant Asthma. He does not require an inhaler right now, although this could eventually lead to the commonly known Asthma.

Within 36 hours of his first dose of Asthma medicine, we knew we had hit a home run. It has been 11 days, and we have not had one episode. We are all getting a full nights sleep again and nap time is quiet and rest full for Conner. He is like a whole new child.

The moral of the story,,,, If you know something is different with your child, it probably is. Doctors don't live with you and can't hear him cough all night long. And as we all know, the symptoms we want the doctor to hear disappear as soon as you hit the lobby door.

Sayings of Conner

*****Some funny things Conner says!*****

Conner calls dinasours -"dina-horse."

He is constantly saying "Oh My Gosh."

He loves to compliment my housework by saying "Looks nice Mommy"

When sitting in the bath tub tonight, he looks all around at the new marble Steve put in our tub and says "Looks Nice, Oh My Gosh."

Everytime I go to the Bathroom, He is quick to tell me "Mommy gets prize."

When Steve was hosing off the sidewalk tonight he said to Conner

"Can you believe those birds pooped on our sidewalk? Where should birds poop?"

Conner said "The trashcan."

In an interview on the way home from school  last week-

Mommy- "Conner, what do you think I should make you and daddy for dinner tonight?"

Conner-  "Cookies"

Mommy- "What else?"

Conner-  "Cookies?"

Mommy- "What should we make to go with our cookies?"

Conner- "Fish!!!!"

Conner loves to help Daddy work around the house with his very own tools and toolbox!

Early Father's Day

On the way home from School Friday, I was telling Conner that it was Father's Day this weekend. So, when we got home, Conner picked out some gifts for his daddy. Then, he wrapped them up in paper. We hid them, for what I  thought was gonna be Sunday. But, when Steve got home and came to the Living Room, Conner ran and got his gifts out and started opening them for Steve. He just couldn't wait til Sunday!

Conner's Florida Vacation

Conner spent June 4-11, 2011 in Navarre Beach, FL with His mom, dad, grandma, granddad, Steph, Tim, Andrea, Byron, Sophie, and Abby. We rented a house on the beach. Conner wasn't crazy about the ocean but he loved the sand. We spent several hours digging in the sand with shovels and buckets, watching the waves, looking for shells, and flying kites. He really enjoyed spending a whole week with his grandparents, Sophie, and Abby. This was probably his favorite part. We also went to the pier fishing, Gulfarium, Blue Angels Practice, and the National Aviation Museum. We spent time in Navarre, Pensacola, and Ft. Walton.

Treasures

This morning when we woke up, we found that a pirates treasures had wash up on shore. A pirate ship must have sunk and all their treasures spilt out and rode the waves to our house. We found jewels, mugs, telescopes, lanterns, and a glow sword. We were all excited to find the loot!!!
