On Mothers Day, Sunday, May 8th, Conner turned 2 years old! I have been blessed for two whole years now with a beautiful blonde hair, brown eyed boy named Conner. As a first time mother, I didn't know what to expect when I took that little creature home from the hospital two years ago. I didn't know I would leave that hospital and start wearing my heart outside my body. That little guy gave new meaning to my life. I would now live and breathe for him and be the proudest mom ever. I would soon be peed on, pooped on, and threw up on. I would lose many hours of sleep those first nine months nursing that fat baby throughout the night. Then, when he started sleeping through the night, I would still get up at least 4 times to watch his chest rise and fall. There were countless nights of sleeping sitting up on the couch so he could breath through a snotty nose or to calm a cough. Then, there were the first smiles, laughs, crawl, steps, and words that brightened your life and gave you one more thing to brag about. Watching him grow and change all the time into a little boy instead of a baby. He became his own person. He had his own thoughts, his own expressions, his own personality. He can communicate with you now. The hospital doesn't prepare you for all of these wonderful life changing moments. They especially don't warn you about all the attitute, temper tantrums, or the first time someone tells you "he didn't wear his listening ears today."
All those moments and milestones has made Conner who he is today. They have also made me who I am today. A better person for being a mother. I have laughed with him, cried with him, and hurt with him. He has made me happy, proud, and really mad. He has made me question myself countless times, "Am I doing this right?"
I never knew a bond could be so tight between two people. What Conner and I have is priceless. Something no one could ever take away from us.
He has taught me about as much as I have taught him in the last two years. He has taught me to be strong, to love, to hurt, to worry, and to be patient.
This little man has changed my life over the last 2 years. I can not wait for the next year and the future. Conner is such a blessing and a joy to have in our lives.
We love you so much Conner!
Happy Birthday!
