Conner got to go to Build a Bear for the first time Monday as a special treat. Who ever thought of Stuffing a piece of fabric shaped like an animal with cotton then putting clothes on it is genius.. Genius if you are that person, not the parent. I think they are called stuffed animals and you can find them at Wal- Mart for $5.00.
But, NO, somebody had to make a store in the mall where you stuff your own animal starting at $20 on up. Then you have to give it a noise, and a smell, and a heart. Ching, Ching, Cha Ching$$$$!
Then you can't make it to the cash register without passing the many, many shelves of clothes.
And then, right down low, eye level to toddlers, they practically jump out and tap the kid on the shoulder, there they were, ROLLER SKATES, for a stuffed animal??? Really???? How many cats have you seen wearing clothes, skating down the sidewalk. And then there is THAT LADY. The one paid to walk around and talk to all the kids when the parents are trying to drag them to the register with a naked, stuffed cat. And she says, "OH, I see you found the roller skates." "Are you going to make your kitty a skater?" "Mom, you are going to need 4 shoes, 4 skates, and a leash to turn you kitty into a skater."
Thanks Mrs. Obvious, I could have figured that one out but why don't you spell it out for the 3 year old looking at the roller skates like they are a golden candy bar.
Every time "THAT LADY" spoke, I felt like she was stabbing me in the eye with a razor blade.
So now we have a well dressed, skating cat, that meows and smells of sweet strawberry.
I grab Conner and the cat, named Avery, because the cute little girl behind us in line was named Avery, and head to the register.
On the way, we have to pass hats, hair bows, jewelry, crutches, and a wheelchair for the stuffed animals. I just said, NO, NO, and NO as we proceeded to the register.
Then, if the trip couldn't get any better, I pull out my smart phone, loaded with coupons, that I use everywhere we go, pull up the $10 coupon for Build a Bear and show the cashier.
This lady, smiling and wearing an animal in a backpack made for a toddler, said
"Oh, I'm Sorry, that coupon won't work here, we can't type in a code."
Seriously???? I was visualizing tying up backpack cashier and Mrs. Obvious and stuffing them in the cotton machine.
Instead, I pay $80 and Conner pulls Avery the Cat through the mall on Roller skates.
To end this very true story, we get home, I go to the bathroom and start some laundry. I come back into the living room to find a very naked cat and $60 worth of clothes, shoes, and roller skates scattered all over the living room.
The cat stays NAKED like the ones you buy at Wal-mart for $5!!!!!!!!!!!
