9 Month Check-up

Last week, we took Conner for his 9 month Check-up. He is 25# 10 ou. He is 31 1/2 inches tall. Once again, this is off the charts. Dr. Voyles says he is perfectly proportioned, not fat. He said that he has been a little early on most of his milestones and by watching the way he was getting around the doctor's office, he thinks he will be an early walker. He said it will probably start before he turns 1 if not sooner. He gave Conner the green light to start table foods, and puffs. No meat though. Conner was excited to get this news. He has had a great week trying new foods. He is a great eater. He is even feeding himself with his fingers already after one week of trying it. His teachers have bragged on him every day as to how well he eats and how that haven't had to fight him to try things. It is so nice that he is a good eater. I know a lot of people go through fits and screaming at meal time trying to get their baby to eat, but we have never had that problem. He is always focused on his food and eating. No troubles there. Dr. Voyles also said he is perfectly healthy little boy. Excellent. That is just the way we like it. We have been blessed with a healthy baby. What more could we ask for?

Conner's Busy Day

The temperature Saturday was 56 degrees. Wow. We haven't seen anything even close to that in a long long time. So, we got outside some to enjoy it before it goes away.

Conner had a busy, busy day. He spent the morning with Grandma and Grandpa Elfreich while Steve worked in the shop and I ran some errands and grocery shopped. They played hard all morning. Then it was off to our house for a bath and a nap. Then, we headed to the State Hospital to feed the ducks and get some much needed fresh air. Conner rode in his wagon and didn't really get excited about the ducks. They were staying in the water and didn't get too close to him, so he couldn't really get the whole effect of feeding the State Hospital ducks.

Then, we headed to Rockport where Granddaddy Payne had the barrel train hooked up and ready to roll. Conner was too little at Patoka to ride in it. He just got to sit in it. The weather has been to bad to pull it out again. So, G-daddy got it out Saturday. Conner rode around the yard in his barrel and was just as sober as could be. I think he loved it, because he never cried. I honestly think the motion was putting him to sleep. At times, you would see his head nod. Then, Mom and I left for an engagement party in Owensboro, and the boys stayed at the house for their boys night. When mom and I got home, Conner was zonked out on the couch between dad and Steve. He slept right through getting buckled in the car seat, and then getting out of the car seat and being placed in his crib. I haven't seen him that exhausted in a long time. It was an exciting day for him.

This dozer at Grandma and G-daddy's house has become one of his favorite toys. Steve pushed him around and he made motor noises.

Tooth #6

We noticed Sunday that Conner had another tooth pop through. It is on the bottom. This makes tooth #6. He is getting a mouth full.

First Overnight

Conner spent the night away from both of us for the first time Saturday night. He went to my parents House for his first overnight. He went up on Saturday afternoon and we picked him up Sunday morning and went to Church with my parents. I wasn't really worried about how Conner would do without us, I was more worried about how I would do without him. We all did fine. He was a very good little boy for his grandparents and I survived without any tears. It was definitely weird not having him around at bedtime.

We went to mass at St. Bernard's and then to my grandmothers house for Breakfast. Yesterday was her birthday, so there were quite a few visitors for a breakfast birthday celebration.

It became very obvious during mass that Conner had been spoiled rotten the short time he was at my parents. He was happy to see us this morning when we got there, but was quick to go back to grandma and G-daddy's arms. He reached for my mom to hold him through the whole mass and spent most of the mass giving his grandma sweet kisses. He didn't really want much to do with Steve or I. That little stinker is SPOILED. I think the three of them had a lot of fun together. Now that the first time is out of the way, I will be ready to try it again soon.

Conner's 9 month Birthday

Conner turned 9 months old today. Wow. He is getting so big and changing every day. If you blink, you may miss something. He is just the sweetest little boy. He is a cuddle bug, a love bug, and a sweetie pie. He brings a smile to everyone around him, even strangers. Conner is such a joy to be around.

4. He gives kisses on the lips (He basically licks you)
5. He says "ma ma" and "da da"
6. He pulls up on everything
7. He walks back and forth while holding on to the couch
8. He is a cuddler (It is so sweet)
9. He jabbers a lot
10. He climbs over anything in his way. Legs. pillows, toys, etc.
11. He still goes to bed at 7 p.m.
12. He eats all stage 3 baby foods, cottage cheese, potatoes, yogurt, pudding, etc.
13. He plays well with his friends at daycare.
14. He is getting faster with his crawling. He will follow you everywhere.
15. He is into everything. Cabinets, toilets, cords.
16. He is a momma's boy.

Sledding with Sophie

We woke up this morning to about 8 inches of snow on the ground. Conner, Sophie, Aunt Andi, and I took advantage of the sun and snow and did some sledding at mom and dad's house. We had a lot of fun.

Housework

Conner helped daddy vacuum the floor today. He seriously rode and held on the entire time it took to vacuum the living room. He loved it. He is going to be such a big help with house work.

Happy Birthday Sophie and Caroline

Today, we went to a Birthday party for Conner's friends, Sophie and Caroline Engler. They are turning 1. He had so much fun playing with the other little ones his age. They had some cool toys to play with, a tent to crawl through, and a doggie. It was such a big day for Conner. There was just so much to watch. He fell fast asleep while watching the twins tackle their cakes. We had a lot of fun today. The best part for Conner was getting a balloon to take home. He loves it.

They each had their own penguin cake. They were so CUTE.

Tooth #5

This was a big week for Conner. He got his 3rd and 4th tooth on Monday and his 5th one came in on Friday. What a painful week. He is getting ready for big people food. Good Luck getting a peak at the top three teeth. He isn't much into showing them off right now.

Cabin Fever

Conner and I have been stuck indoors for a couple of days now due to illness. So, I told him last night that if we were both feeling up to it, him and I would go shopping for some birthday presents for a party Saturday. The weather is nasty today. It is cold and rainy. We have not decided if we are going to tackle it. Sitting at the front door is one of his favorite things to do. He usually sits here and watches his dad rake leaves or decorate for Christmas or whatever he does outside. We stay inside with the heat and watch Steve from the door. Today, I put him at his door and he watched it Rain, the garbage man pick up the trash, a woman walk her dog, and cars pass by. He loves his lookout post. You could tell he was looking for his daddy, but he is at work. He is a smart little guy.

Two Top Teeth

Conner broke ground on his two top teeth Monday. That makes 4 total. One is completely through and the other is almost there. When Steve picked him up from daycare Monday, Ms. Linda said he had woke up on the wrong side of his crib. She said that the one tooth popped through that day and he was feeling the pain. Monday night and Tuesday morning proved to be the same. He is having a rough time. Just a little more and they will be a bad memory. Hang in there Conner. I sent Steve to Wal-mart to get groceries, and he comes home with this new buggy for Conner.

Grandma Heaven

The G.I. bug hit the Elfreich house pretty hard this weekend. We each had a round of it. On Tuesday, Steve and I were still not back to normal, so the Grandmas were called in. Grandma E took the morning and Grandma P took the afternoon. That boy was in Heaven. The smile says it all. Thanks Grandmas for all of your help this weekend. We needed it. Love you both.

This morning while I was getting ready for work, I had to go to the bathroom. You can't leave Conner unattended anymore, so I took him with me and sat him on the floor. I flushed, washed my hands and left the bathroom. I said "Come on Conner." Usually he will follow you. I got to the kitchen and started making bottles. I realized he didn't follow so I went to look for him and this is what I found. He can pull up on anything. Splish Splash. Maybe this means he will be an early potty trainer.
